Have you considered HOW you want to age?
The US Department of Health and Human Services and The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has and they have compiled a list of 19 Older Adult Objectives for you and your community to become familiarly with.
WHY:
Making sure ALL adults have access to preventive care helps reduces the effects of normal and ABNORMAL aging. As we age we have increased health risks from chronic diseases, injuries and infectious diseases.
HOW:
Focus on reducing health problems while at the same time improving quality of life for adults. Its a good thing we are thinking ahead!
General Objectives
- Increase the proportion of older adults with physical or cognitive health problems who get physical activity — OA‑01
- Reduce the rate of pressure ulcer-related hospital admissions among older adults — OA‑04
- Reduce the rate of hospital admissions for diabetes among older adults — OA‑05
Dementia
- Reduce the proportion of preventable hospitalizations in older adults with dementia — DIA‑02
- Increase the proportion of older adults with dementia, or their caregivers, who know they have it — DIA‑01
- Increase the proportion of adults with subjective cognitive decline who have discussed their symptoms with a provider — DIA‑03
